Stride to Spot
Instructions
• 1 player on the mound (mound optional, can use flat ground), another player acting as catcher or a screen can be set up to throw into
• Player starts on the pitching rubber in the stretch position
• Coach marks a spot on the ground approximately 80% of the height of the player (70% if on flat ground)
• Player begins the drill with 5 dry repetitions (without throwing) to make sure mechanics are correct. Player will stride down the mound to the spot marked by the coach.
• After the dry repetitions, player goes through the drill again, this time throwing the ball to the catcher by striding down the mound to the marked spot
• Players should have at least 5 dry repetitions, then at least 10 throwing repetitions before switching
