Pitching
Chair Drill
Instructions
• 1 player on the mound (mound is best, can use flat ground), second player catches or throw into a screen
• Player starts by putting push off foot (back foot) up on a chair or bucket. Once back foot is elevated then player places stride foot down the mound.
• Once in that position the player will throw the ball to the catcher or net, with back foot coming off the chair at release.
• Player can begin the drill with 5 dry repetitions (without throwing) to make sure mechanics are correct.
• After the dry repetitions, player goes through the drill again, this time throwing the ball to the catcher or into the net
• Focus should be on maintaining a firm front side, not allowing the weight to go over the front knee
